It was at Ta' Petistina that the first general sitting was held and it was agreed that the first official committee members were to be drawn following a ballot. The first steering committee was elected and was made up of Felic Gatt, Joseph Grima, Joseph Scicluna and Geraldu Scicluna.  More members were added like Agius, Abdilla and Gravina. As a member of the society the monthly subscription was four old pennies.

A further contribution was asked from the members for buying furniture for the club. With the feast in mind, the secretary of the club passed a sum of money to the procurator in charge of finances, Mr Giovanni Farrugia. Members like Felic Gatt, Antonio Abdilla and Geraldu Scicluna offered to organize the decorations of the streets and buildings in the square.

When the First World War broke out, feast celebrations became restricted. However, the procession was held as expected on the 15th August.  Religious guilds took part in the procession together with the members of the clergy. When war was over, the Circolo La Stella invited the Palm Band of Vittoriosa to play marches in the procession. A small band called Indri’s band played during the Te Deum. Streets were decorated with oil lamps and creepers.

After the war, a large platform for the band was manufactured by Antonio Abdilla. Up to now, the club did not have its own band. Members used to go to the Beland club in Zejtun to learn to play musical instruments so as to assemble a number of bandsmen. Amongst these were Kelinu Farrugia, Grezzju Cilia and Gorg Abela. Besides, Guzeppi Abdilla, an ex-treasurer,  was the first to come out fully conversant with the theory and practice of music. When St. Mary’s Band Club was formed, he was the first tutor to teach young men the playing of various instruments.
A bar for members and their guests was given by tender to a certain Aloisio Spiteri for the considerable sum of Lm 3.13 per year.

In 1921 the activities in the club increased and money was donated even by the poor presents. The treasurer at that time had a current amount of Lm92 and a fixed sum of Lm75 in the Anglo Maltese bank. Further fund raising activities were organized. One of these activities was the comedy theatre on stage. This proved to be a popular event among the villagers.
