  Mro. Jeremy Sultana

Born on the 25th September 1979 son of Peter Paul and Mary Lourdes Sultana nee Stoner, most of his life spent in Birkirkara until he got married on 15th May 2005 to Dorianne Sultana nee Fenech were he moved to Ghaxaq. They have a son named Justin which on 22nd September will be celebrating his 6th Birthday.

Jeremy Sultana started studying the Clarinet at the age of 12 with St. Helen Band Club, in Birkirkara under the instruction of Mro. Richard Bugeja. After 2 years on the 14th August 1994 he performed for the first time with St. Helen Band Club were they had been invited to play for the feast of St. Mary in Rabat, Gozo.

From there on he continued taking music with real interest were he joined ‘Johann Strauss School of Music’ in Valletta. Mro. Monreal assisted him for Clarinet Practise and Musical Theory under Mro. Pulis.

 
     
 


Jeremy Sultana on the same year started preparing for London College of Music exams under the supervision of Mro. Ronnie Debbatista. At the moment he is still studying the Clarinet and Musical Theory under the supervision of Mro. David Agius.

After 3 years Jeremy was appointed as a helper teacher on woodwind section, which Mro. David Agius was under pressure due to many students attending lessons, days passed and still occupying this place with St. Helen Band Club (Birkirkara).

 St. Helen Band Club (Birkirkara) performs an annual program at Sir Temi Zammit Hall in University of Malta were he performed as soloist in pieces such as Czardas, Concertino per il-Clarinetto, Tesoro Musicale.

 In April 2002 Jeremy started making part from our band were he played under the direction of Mro. Emmanuel Spagnol. In August 2004 he was appointed to join Mro. Herbert Pace as his assistant director, which for Jeremy this was the first time to conduct a band.

Jeremy Sultana plays with various bands in Malta and Gozo, he even was one of the founders of a small band in Umberto Callosso School which performed locally and abroad. Lately Jeremy played with Ms. Marie Therese Vassallo in an MCI concert were they been joined for a grand duo.

In February 2007 he was appointed to join ‘Filarmonika Santa Marija’ Mosta as a woodwind section teacher.

February 2008 he was appointed to become St. Mary Band Club Ghaxaq as a band director.

Jeremy has various hobbies which he likes most to study music, support Birkirkara F.C. and collects ancient international wind instruments such as; Shehnai (Indian Oboe) Bansuri, Peruvian Flute, Duduk (Armenian Origin), Didgeridoo (Australian Origin) etc… 

Jeremy Sultana teaches music (woodwind section) at St. Mary Band Club (Ghaxaq) every Saturday from 1600 onwards, everyone is welcome.
